APO103 – The Creation Week
Course Description
In this course, students will explore the biblical account of creation as described in the first chapters of Genesis, focusing on the six days of creation and their theological significance. Through careful study of the Creation Week, we will delve into the deep truths that these early chapters of Scripture reveal about God’s nature, purpose, and design for the world. The course will highlight how each day of creation reflects God’s intentionality and sovereignty in bringing order, beauty, and life to the universe. Students will gain a profound appreciation for the power and wisdom of the Creator as they examine the distinctive aspects of the creation process.
The course will also examine the theological implications of creation, addressing questions about the origin of the world, the nature of humanity, and the relationship between God and creation. Special attention will be given to the significance of human beings being made in God’s image and the role they play in His creation. Students will reflect on how the Creation Week provides a foundation for understanding God’s ongoing relationship with His creation and His call for humanity to steward and care for the earth.
Throughout the course, students will engage with key themes such as the goodness of creation, the sabbath rest, and the purpose of work and rest in light of God’s design. They will also consider various interpretations of the Creation Week, from traditional views to modern scientific perspectives, fostering respectful dialogue about faith and science. By the end of the course, students will not only have a deeper understanding of the biblical Creation account but will also be inspired to live in harmony with God’s creation and reflect His glory in all aspects of life.
